The Rambling Writer’s Annual Visit to the Tulip Fields

Join Thor and me as we soak up some color therapy in the Skagit Valley, Washington, tulip fields. It’s spring!

Every year since I’ve been back in my native Northwest Washington, I make the drive south to wander among the glorious, living colors of the extensive tulip fields of Skagit County. The industry, started by Dutch immigrants, is the largest producer of tulips in the country. And visitors come from many countries to enjoy the show. In the distance, snow-capped Mt. Baker raises her head.

It’s been another challenging year. After the long, rainy, gray winter, amid the depressing political/world news, spring sunshine and flowers bring renewed hope.
