So this happened –

Every year the Mayor of my city hands out a handful of Mayor’s Arts Awards – for artistic contribution to the community.

THis year, we had a couple of musicians (a symphony orchestra conductor, a local opera company founding pair, and a jazz musician who created a local jazz scene from pretty much scratch), a couple of artists in various media… and me, the only writer, and the most solitary of the listed occupations.

I got a certificate:

And an award – not sure what it is – a dozy looking flower… star… star flower?… anyway, handmade ceramic by a local artist – promptly dubbed teh Thingy (now I have to find a place to put it):

So. That happened. I got a Mayor’s Arts Award. 🙂

Back to your regularly scheduled entertainment now…
