Book View Café is pleased to announce that three of our members are on the ballot for the 2018 Hugo Awards, which will be awarded in August at Worldcon 76 in San Jose, California.
In bittersweet news, the late Ursula K. Le Guin was nominated in the best related work category for her essay collection No Time to Spare: Thinking About What Matters, published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. This collection includes blog posts that originally appeared on this blog along with Ursula’s personal blog.
Marie Brennan was nominated in the best series category for The Memoirs of Lady Trent, published by Tor in the U.S. and Titan in the U.K.
Linda Nagata was nominated for her short story “The Martian Obelisk,” which appeared on Tor.com.
We are proud to have Marie and Linda as active members of Book View Café who both publish some of their work here and provide help to other members as part of this cooperative publishing venture.
While we are still in mourning over Ursula’s death, it is wonderful to see that her work continues to be appreciated within the science fiction community.

So cool! Congratulations to you both! I’m glad Ursula made the cut, too.
Yeah, I got a little sniffly when they announced her nomination. (I was at the live announcement in San Jose.)
