OMNI Names Marie Brennan a 2016 Emerging Author

Book View Cafe is pleased to announce that Marie Brennan has been named one of Omni‘s Best Emerging Fantasy Authors of 2016 for her book Cold-Forged Flame.

Rachel David of Omni writes, “A nameless woman with amnesia wakes up in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by a strange chief and his tribesmen. An inexplicable magical force compels her to complete a task for them. Cold-Forged Flame, [the first in a new series] by fantasy author Marie Brennan, chronicles a woman robbed of her free will as she embarks on a dangerous quest for a group of strangers and tries to piece together who she is why she was chosen.”

Marie Brennan is an anthropologist and folklorist who shamelessly pillages her academic fields for material.  She has most recently misapplied her professors’ hard work to the Memoirs of Lady Trent (A Natural History of Dragons, The Tropic of Serpents, Voyage of the Basilisk, and the upcoming In the Labyrinth of Drakes). She is also the author of the Onyx Court historical fantasy series (Midnight Never Come, In Ashes Lie, A Star Shall Fall, and With Fate Conspire), the doppelganger duology of Warrior and Witch, the urban fantasy Lies and Prophecy, and more than forty short stories.

Marie joins other distinguished fantasy authors, including Nisi Shawl, Seanan McGuire, and Guy Gavriel Kay.  Several of Marie’s wonderful novels are available here from Book View Cafe.

Congratulations, Marie!
