It’s WWW Wednesday. This meme is from shouldbereading.

• What did you recently finish reading?

Aliette de Bodard’s THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS, which is an amazing fantastical thriller set in a post-magical-disaster Paris, and you really should go pre-order it now.

• What are you reading now?

I’m halfway through Martha Wells’ THE SERPENT SEA (a follow-up to THE CLOUD ROADS, which I really enjoyed), and Fred Vargas’s AN UNCERTAIN PLACE, a gritty contemporary mystery set in Paris (interesting as a counterpoint to Alette’s book!).  This is my second attempt on AN UNCERTAIN PLACE – Sian Reynold’s translation is very good, but I have to be in the right brainspace to really get into the feel of it.

• What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m a month shy of draft deadline for Book 2 of The Devil’s West, so there’s nothing on my TBR pile until I recover from that.   Afterward….  either Kristi Charish’s OWL AND THE JAPANESE CIRCUS, which I picked up after meeting her at Norwescon, or Libba Bray’s THE DIVINERS.  Or something else that lands on my desk and demands my immediate attention!
