All Creatures Real and Otherwise: Christmas in July

Snow makes the cat’s decision on inside or out even more fraught. Brenda Clough’s cat Tobemorey, a Scottish Fold more commonly known as Tobey, kept looking for the door into summer during the 2010 Snowpocalypse in the Washington, DC, region.

Notice that he’s sitting just out of snow range, waiting for it to go away so he won’t get his paws wet.

And now, of course, he wants back in.

Brenda, you have failed this cat. Clearly you were supposed to do something about all that snow!

  1. It’s hard to even remember that we ever had snow three feet deep in the yard. When my husband would shovel it out the cats would delicately step into the shoveled walkway and then glare at us — why is there no grass to dig in? where are the dry leaves for my toileting purposes?

  2. That is the time of year for that lovely fluffy coat. Now? Not so much.

  3. I’m a firm believer in playing instrumental Christmas music this time of year, to make myself feel cooler. But at Tobey’s height, I quite understand his annoyance.
