By now, many of you have read about our forthcoming anthology project, THE SHADOW CONSPIRACY. Everyone here is filled with enthusiasm, energy, wild ideas and scads of research they’re all wildly talking about on the boards. It’s like a giant electronic slumber party where everyone’s hopped up on sugar and diet soda.
(yes, do pause to imagine that. It’s every bit as terrifying as you might think.)
To make sure that enthusiasms are properly directed and the project stays focused, we have editors. Specifically, Phyllis Radford and myself. I was nominated because I have fifteen years experience editing fiction, and have already put together two anthologies (TREACHERY & TREASON and OTHERWERE). Phyl was chosen because she is the bravest, sanest, and calmest of us all (that’s my take on it, anyway. She may have a different opinion on being shanghaid, screaming and kicking). Consider us an odd combination of ringmasters and therapists….
In the coming weeks, Phyl and I will be blogging about our experiences h/e/r/d/i/n/g/ c/a/t/s/ working with this project: what we’re learning, discovering, and tearing our hair out over. From hammering the story-bible and timeline into order to line-editing the stories, all the way down to the production nitty-gritty – you’ll hear about it as it happens..
Hopefully, we’ll be able to educate and entertain – and make you eager to see what the final project reads like….
If you have anything specific that you’d like to hear about, or questions specific to the project, please do let us know. The more you understand the process, the more you can appreciate and enjoy the work that’s done on the other side of the page…
