Book View Café Frequently Asked Questions

See our Help page if you have technical questions.

What is Book View Café?

Book View Café is a cooperative publisher. Our members are professional writers who want to use the Internet to reach a wider audience and distribute their work directly to readers.

Where are you located?

Our cooperative has members all over the world. Our corporate headquarters are in Cedar Crest, New Mexico, USA.

Is Book View Café a publisher?

Yes, we’re an author-owned publishing cooperative.  We only publish work by our members.  (See “How can I become a member of Book View Café?”)

Can I submit a book to Book View Café?

No. Manuscripts sent to us will not be read or returned. Book View Café offers only books by BVC members.

How can I become a member of Book View Café?

Membership in Book View Café is limited to authors who have been published by traditional, advance-and-royalty paying print publishers. Members are expected to volunteer for work that’s appropriate to their skills. Candidates must be approved by a majority of the current membership. If this sounds like what you’re looking for, feel free to contact our membership liaison: membership@bookviewcafe.com

Who are the Book View Café members?

The members of Book View Café are all professional writers, representing the broad diversity of popular fiction. To see our membership, use the BVC Authors link in the top menu.

Why did you decide to start Book View Café?

To provide you with access to our work in electronic form, to give you a wider selection of fiction from some of your favorite authors than you’ve had before, and to provide us a more direct link with our readers.

Can I buy books at Book View Café?

Yes. The ebook might be the author’s work brought back into print, or new work available exclusively from BVC. Use the top menu to browse authors and genres, or use the SEARCH field.

How does the BVC eBookstore work?

Add as many books as you want to your shopping cart. When you’re ready to buy, click the “checkout” link on your shopping cart. (There’s another checkout link on the top navigation bar, and also at the top of the right-hand sidebar.) You’ll see a list of the items you’re about to purchase. Next click the yellow “Checkout with PayPal” button.

You’ll be taken to PayPal to complete the payment process. Clicking the PayPal button allows you to pay via PayPal or credit/debit card. You do not need a PayPal account to buy BVC ebooks.

When you return to the Café, you’ll see a receipt page. Look for the DOWNLOAD links. There will be one for each book that you bought. Click the DOWNLOAD link to save your ebook file. Be sure to download all your books.

You’ll get a copy of your receipt in email. Please save it, as it will allow you to come back to BVC to re-download your books.

What ebook formats do you offer?

EPUB and MOBI. Some books are also available as PDFs. The B&N Nook, the Sony eReader, and many other devices use the EPUB format, while the amazon.com Kindle uses MOBI. Most computers can display PDFs. Several ebook display apps are available for computers and smart phones. Please see “Reading BVC Ebooks.”

Can you take credit cards?

We accept all major credit cards. You do not need a PayPal account to buy our books.
