Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators Conference

There is nothing in me, and there never has been, that wants to tell “dark” stories in the sense that I see the world as a terrible place. Terrible things happen, and they always will, but the world itself, is not terrible. It’s really about having love in one’s heart, and about that amazing time when we are all kids, that some precious fortunate few of us never lose, when we believe that magic is real – don’t just believe it; know it.
